Today the computer is an indispensable tool. The objective of this course will be to understand this tool and how can we use it.

Objectives

This course will allow the students to know all about computer and it components; what is necessary to set up a computer; what cares should be taken in the assembly; what types of malfunction could we have and how do we solve them.

To all those that want to learn or to improve knowledge at the level of hardware;

Pedagogical Methodology

Mixing sessions with practices and theory, with description of the subjects and experimentation in a personal computer. Exercises with individually resolution.

Level I

4th. Session - Motherboard Architecture:
Patterns AT and ATX; Motherboard components
5th. Session - Motherboard Architecture (Cont.):
Motherboard components; Interface Card: Graphic, Sound, modem and Network Interface Card; Doubts and Evaluation

Level II

1st. Session - How to set up a computer?
Methods to proceed in the computer assembly; Tools used in the assembly; Cares to have during the computer assembly
2nd. Session - Computer Assembly:
Each student sets up and disassembles computers following the method explained by the teacher
3rd. Session - Computer Assembly (Cont.):
The student continues to set up and to disassemble computers; What is the Operative System (File System: FAT, NTFS, EXT)
4th Session - How to install the Operative System:
The student learns how to install the operative system (Windows XP, Linux)
5th. Session - Driver’s installation for:
Interface Card: Graphic, Sound, modem and Network Interface Card; Doubts and Evaluation

Level III

1st. Session - Computer malfunction diagnostics:
Method to proceed to detect a malfunction; Analysis of malfunction and its solutions
2nd - Computer malfunction diagnostics:
It will be given to the students a computer with problems, where they will have to solve it
3rd. Session - Computer malfunction diagnostics (Cont.):
The students continue to detect and to solve the malfunction, and then they will constitute a team of 2 students, in order to insert the student in team work
4th Session - Introduction to networking:
This introduction has the purpose to present to the students, what is involved in a network (Network Structures, LANs, WANs, Network Architecture).
5th. Session - Introduction to networking (Cont.):/strong>
